My name is Don van Ravenzwaaij and I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Psychological Methods department from the University of Amsterdam. My research project concerns cognitive modeling in psychology, both theoretical and applied. Among the things that I do (for details, see my Papers):

Theoretical:

  1. -Parameter Recovery study of different implementations of the drift diffusion model (Ratcliff, 1978).

  2. -Model common phenomena in the IQ-world (such as the Worst Performance Rule) with the diffusion model.

  3. -Investigate mathematical model equivalence between RT models, such as the drift diffusion model (Ratcliff, 1978), the leaky, competing accumulator model (Usher & McClelland, 2001), and the feedforward inhibition model (Shadlen & Newsome, 2001).

  4. -Examine optimal performance in decision making situations with unequal priors for each response probability.

Applied:

  1. -Create and apply a mathematical model for the Balloon Analogue Risk Task.

  2. -Apply the diffusion model to response time data in an alcohol study.

  3. -Investigate the claim that the Implicit Association Test measures racial prejudice (see link to Psychology Today article).

Aside from my academic career, I run DonStat, which is a statistical consultancy business.
